I use it all the time. Works well. The only problem is IBM cannot figure
out how to get the WRKOPTVOL information to update properly. You'll find a
vary off/on of the network based optical devices will also reset them to the
first image in the catalog, a handy trick when needed.
My customer that just started to use it this morning reported a 50% decrease
in time to load groups vs. a local image catalog. That's with 12 drives on
the system. With a small number of drives on the system, (less than 6)
you'll see even more dramatic reductions in time needed to load/apply.
The command to start a new partition or upgrade from the HMC seems a bit
complicated but once you figure it out it really is reasonably straight
forward.

Subject: IMAGE Catalogs and NFS
Any input to how promising this is on 6.1 and 7.1 Looking to test this out
and wanted to see how well it works. Can these images be on a PC as well or
must they be on NFS IBM I.
