Getting off of the technical aspect of this list but "which vendors are
ripping off their customers and which do not." is highly subjective.
While I feel that it's perfectly acceptable that a vendor not give a free
upgrade of their software that will work on the latest IBM release if the
"customer" hasn't paid maintenance in years another person would find that
highly objectionable. Of course they should also feel that, once they
bought a cup of coffee from the corner cafe they should be able to walk in
there for all eternity, get free refills, use their restrooms and read the
free newspaper.
