Actually, i rather like that feature. In the future, when you cant get 139
disks anymore you might rebuild an array with the 283 ones.
In fact that's standard in the Intel world, Most of the times we stock
higher capacity drives for some of the older machines on maintenance
because a 72Gb or 146Gb disk will rebuild a 18 or 36Gb array without the
hassle of trying to find such an old disk (when the controller supports
it...)

"Feature" yeah I'll remember that. It would be nice if you got a warning

Larry, this has been possible for quite a while. It's a little
known "feature" of SAS and the server firmware since .... oh,
heck I forget when.
