Scott,
I suspect Craig was passing a file name to the script generator.
And in some cases this file may have had some character in it that was
best served by wrapping the file name in double quotes.
And what is happening is that he is passing an asterisk as the file name
to the generator.
Short of changing the generator to be more selective on what to wrap in
quotes he has to figure out other alternatives.

Removing PTF's and not applying any more is not an option.
