Say what you want about any character based interface, it's still MUCH
faster for data entry. A very large car rental company is in financial
trouble now mainly due to the cash they are spending to implement a new GUI
based system and integrate a purchased company, as reported by the Wall
Street Journal. Had they stayed with the IBM i and CICS character based
rental counter software the lines at the counter would be much shorter,
(their main competition stayed with the character based system and you don't
see the same thing at their counters) and customer satisfaction would be
much higher.

As with all things, use the right tool for the job. Maybe character based
interfaces aren't sexy, but they still work really well.
