I tried with port 22222 as well, but it seems that it only listens on 514.

Did you check if 5555 is unused on your system? That port is the normal
port for Management Central to use.

           Hi James,
           I tried as you suggested with " /usr/sbin/syslogd -p 5555 "
but it still gets messages from port 514 only, not 5555.
           Did I miss something ?

I am using PASE tool /usr/sbin/syslogd with the default port

How can I use /usr/sbin/syslogd with another port number ?
I found that there is a socket flag "-p" , but I do not know
       how to
               use it
                 for port change.
Simply run syslogd as "/usr/sbin/syslogd -p 1234" (substituting
       the real
port number you want to use).

if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books
       on
the design of operating systems. please pass them along to

when you're done reading them :)
