Ops manager says 'no changes' for over two years (!?!) - we've been begging for 7.1 for
a few months (7.1 is almost complete on our test lpar, now waiting on DB2 PTF level 26).
I'll have to ask about WINS . . .
The files are small (< 10k) so I don't see an issue with size.
I like stability, but proposing change to iSeries1 will be 'a consideration' but I can configure
QFileSvr.400 between the two lpars on the server to which I have rights.

Has anyone did any save/restores from old system to new with some 'creative' techniques?
QFileSvr.400 should definitely bypass any WINS issues. QFileSvr.400 does have a file size limitation that may be a consideration.
Then again, NFS instead of QNTC might bypass WINS also and many people (myself included) prefer the stability of NFS over NetServer. See
commands: MOUNT, UNMOUNT, EXPORTFS.

We have had occasional problems with a job that runs each day as a 'never
ending job',
checking every few minutes for Purchase Orders created on iSeries1 which
must be full-filled
by Customer Orders created and 'delivered' from iSeries2.
This job has run reliably barring occasional problems for over three
years, but within the last two
weeks the iSeries2 job has raised "CPE3025 - No such path or directory."
when attempting to
read the IFS of iSeries1.
Purchase Orders on iSeries1 are converted into text files on the IFS in
directory 'unprocessed'.
The iSeries2 job reads the 'unprocessed' directory on iSeries2 by way of
the QNTC.
I know the recommended solution would be to use QFileSvr.400, but the QNTC
'solution' was
created before my time here.
While looking in QHST on iSeries2 for any sign of system problems around
the time of the most
recent CPE3025 problem, I found this message:
"CPIB687 - IBM i Support for Windows Network Neighborhood started, but an
error was encountered."
The message goes on to say " . . . because of reason code 3."
"3 - QSENIOR has made a conflicting announcement for domain SWIRECC.COM"
Any experience with/insight into reason code 3 is much appreciated . . .
