Assuming a fire proof safe rated for media, they should be safe from
humidity. At least till you open the door.

The report that I got last night was that the service company has ripped up
the carpet in all of the offices and had left fans running to dry out the
building. I wasn't there, but I have seen these in operation in similar
situations and they are pretty big. The tapes are in a fireproof safe, but
I do not know how effective it is as regards humidity.

Still waiting for a call from the office as to the current status. I put
the system maintenance company on notice Saturday, and they are preparing
to
come in this morning. One thing the tech mentioned to me, since she is
familiar with our set up, is that the brick (twinax) may be in danger; a
very possible scenario since, when I was first notified of the situation, I
could log into the System i, but none of the local stations could.

Speaking of dairy farms, I used to drive past one on I-10 between Las
Cruces
and El Paso. I guess you get used to the odor; I just held my breath and
speeded up for a few minutes.

Excellent advice, high humidity and computers AND TAPES do not mix.

My cousin has computers on his dairy farm, they don't live long in that
environment with the constant washing and cleaning of tanks and such.
Humidity is always almost unbearable there.

Purchase a de-humidifier and get it running ASAP. We had flooding in my

started dying shortly after, even though they hadn't been in the standing
water.

Invest in stilts for the system, or move everything to the 2nd floor!
