Let's look at a system with that environment variable set to the default
of browse like heck.

I do a
WRKLNK '/QNTC/GDL164'
and I see a list of shares on my laptop.
I try
RD '/QNTC/GDL164'
CPFB058-The network server GDL164 was not removed.
CPFA0D4-File system error occurred. Error number 3464.

Message ID . . . . . . : CPFB058
Cause . . . . . : Network server GDL164 was not removed since it was not

added by the MKDIR command. A server that was added by the IBM i
NetClient
(QNTC) file system browsing feature can not be removed from the list.
Recovery . . . : To remove the server from the list, the server service
on
the network server must be turned off.
