People often use snapshots of data. One may summarize sales or GL data
into tables that are faster and/or easier to query. Or to put on another
platform's database for querying.
So getting a 'snapshot' of data off of a spool file is not necessarily
"bad practice". Especially considering all the intense processing
involved in some spool files.
