Step 5 of the install sat on 30% for five hours then went to 90% for about 30 minutes. The earlier steps and the steps after step 5 completed in what I would consider a normal amount of time. I've done three similar upgrades this week and C900 2950 completed in minutes. IBM is still researching the issue and I'll post any updates. I don't see any references to what you mention for THIS SRC but if you are correct that it's doing that then that changes perspective completely on how long it will take. On a system with 8000 libraries, I would expect "Some Minutes." :-) How long did it take?? - Larry "DrFranken" Bolhuis www.frankeni.com www.iDevCloud.com www.iInTheCloud.com On 5/3/2015 12:57 PM, Paul Fenstermacher wrote: > This is our largest development system with close to 8000 libraries, most of which have lots of database files. I found a Google item saying this SRC was for converting the database cross-reference files(which are HUGE on this system) but that was around the V5R1 time frame, not sure if that step still happens at V7R2. All external storage, DS8870, with 4 dedicated processors and 64G memory. > > Paul Fenstermacher | Sys Admin, Sr | Corporate Systems - POWER Systems > Administration | Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. > 663 West Highway 60 | Monett, MO 65708 | 417-235-4114 x177389 | > pfenstermacher@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > -----Original Message----- > From: MIDRANGE-L [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of > DrFranken > Sent: Sunday, May 3, 2015 11:46 AM > To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion > Subject: Re: V7R2 upgrade SRC > > Have seen it take a while but not this long. Since this is an install step it seems like the amount of YOUR data or programs wouldn't matter here. I would think issues could be failed cache battery or drive slowing down the install or possibly sadly insufficient resource but I would expect you to be in any of those positions. > > - Larry "DrFranken" Bolhuis > > www.frankeni.com > www.iDevCloud.com > www.iInTheCloud.com > > On 5/3/2015 12:34 PM, Paul Fenstermacher wrote: > >> I'm doing a V7R1 to V7R2 upgrade today and Stage 5 has been sitting at 30% with SRC C900 2950 for three hours. IBM is telling me that this step could take 3-4 hours but I've never seen anything like that in the past. Anyone ever seen this?
