I don't know if that goes all the way back to "AS/400e" models.  Was your

Starting with V5 of the operating system there are license keys that are 
needed.  And you will play holy hell trying to get a key for a version of 
the OS that is no longer under maintenance.  If it has reached "end of 
support" then you've gained yourself a piece of scrap metal, as least as 
far as trying to get keys.
