Jon,
All my customers have it installed, but most of them I had to do it.
There should not be any more objections to having those two tiny bits being
installed than they would have for PASE and 5773-SC1 for Zend Server. I'd
say go for it.
One thought. Those products are so small that you could easily bundle it in
with your software and give the user the option to install it as part of
your installation process if you determine it's not there. Then you could
install and get all the configuration items done all at the same time. They
might need to apply PTFs later but you won't break anything by installing
the software without the PTFs. If you save them from a recently PTFd
system, you might even avoid the PTF step.

Subject: PDF Transform Services
I am looking at the possibility of requiring that the IBM's free Transform
Services (product 5761TS1 for V6 - 5770TS1 for V7) be installed for PDF
generation so that an update of a product can dump the clunky and somewhat
error prone PDF generation process currently in use.
The concern is that this might be considered an arduous requirement by the
product's users.
My own belief is that the product is so advantageous that the vast majority
of customers are likely to already have it installed. If they do not, that
they would welcome hearing about it as the most likely reason for not
installing it was likely a lack of awareness of its existence. People are
used to having to spend $s for stuff like that from IBM.
So - my question is twofold.
1) Do you already have this transform product installed ?
2) If not, would you have any objections to it being a requirement for a
product upgrade ?
