along with ls -l as given the du command provides size info for files. it can also be redirected to a file

you could also use the RTVDIRINF cl command to gather the file size data

We had a situation in which a STMF carrying log entries apparently grew
to several gigabytes without anybody noticing.

Any suggestions on how to keep an eye on such things, so they don't take
