Not really no...

A results set is SQL specific. You'd need to use ODBC, JDBC, ect. as the
protocol to connect and retrieve a result set.

A web service uses HTTP as it's protocol.

You could have a web service return a XML, JSON, text, ect. document that
contained a list or array. An example in JSON might look like:
"customer":
[
{ "id": "5001", "name": "Tom" },
{ "id": "5002", "name": "Charles" },
{ "id": "5005", "name": "Mike" },
{ "id": "5007", "name": "Doug" },
{ "id": "5006", "name": "Sue" },
{ "id": "5003", "name": "Kim" },
{ "id": "5004", "name": "Kristy" }
]
