We use a Change Management System (CMS) that promotes from development to
test to production. Production is always on a different lpar(s). We do
not keep source on any lpar but development.
Basically what I am saying is: There is a way to do this. Keep on
trucking...

Currently for our CMS we are running PTC (formerly MKS). The gent who
runs this list works there as his day job.
Prior to that we were running Softlanding by Turnover.
