Justin,

Desktop Guide to AS/400 Programmers' Tools by Dan Riehl. My battered copy on my bookshelf is copyright 1995. Amazon seems to have used copies for $10-$15. Gives a good intro to both PDM and SEU and also details of both, enough that you should be able to converse with green screen developers.

All my knowledge of the green screen is very operator based, plus getting
pretty good at STRSQL recently. While I'd rather ssh into PASE, and use
some GUI like SQLWorkbench for doing my SQL work, I'd like to learn enough
about SEU to be able to communicate with the RPG developers I interact with
when working with clients. I've been playing around on my free green screen
account on PUB1.DE, and I got RUNSQLSTM to actually work, and figured out
the error messages went o spool files.

Is there a good tutorial out there for teaching the green screen to
windows/linx developers coming to the IBM i af? Basically I'm looking for
the opposite of an RPG modernization tutorial something that would explain
things like this:

Text files are called source members and live in source files, This is how
you would create and run a source member with a CREATE TABLE statement.
Long time green screeners will call a table a Physical File. BTW, you could
also define a physical file with a deprecated Domain Specific Language
(DSL) called DDS. It's not recommended anymore, but you might encounter DDS
files, so here is a basic one.

There is some stuff on Youtube, but its more piecemeal stuff.
