Forgive me.. But if you say it will not work with BRMS .. My answer is no..
We are doing backup using brms and using vtl emulated drive and vtl
emulated tape... So I say it work with BRMS, but if you say can it do
parallel, I will say yes but partially... Since BRMS can parallel to 32
tape but vtl and other tape than IBM can not do that.. Thats my
experience... But it could change now.. :D

There are a couple of companies in our local user group who are using
someone else's VTL and they seem quite happy with it.
Will it work with BRMS? No.
Can they do a bare metal restore from it? No.
But they accept those limitations for a significantly lower price. That's
their business choice. At least one of these is somewhat active on this
list.

Guys, I need your opinion on what would be a good VTL solution for a Small
college. I need to do backups but I would also like to store the copies
off site. We have 1.2TB of total storage and using currently 811GB.
Normally I do a weekly full backup and then incrementally during the week
using BRMS. I think that I would like a solution that would:

1) Backup to a VTL

2) The VTL would Replicate to another VTL that would be located
off-site approximately 3 miles away.

3) I would like to keep the monthly backups for 12 months and then
recycle them.

4) I would like to keep yearly backups until I decide to recycle
them.

Money is an object, so I need a good solid low-cost solution.

Thanks in advance.
