Modifying buffer sizes has been a great help to me when moving images from
a notebook to the system as far back as v5r4. 8k buffers, IMHO just can't
handle 4MB/s or more, moving to 64k saturates the puny raid controller on a
520.
Also the reason i use Download Director, multiple streams and automatic
resume.

IBM usually does limit one FTP channel to about 200kB/sec,
so your CHGTCPA will not help (but buffer sizes of 131072 is recommended).

Currently loading with Download director at about 18MB/sec,
which uses 9 streams.

Might it possibly be a CHGTCPA thing or something?
