Paul - I use this on every transaction prior to submitting a payment to our
payment processor (Verifone's Payware).

2) No - the code just returns a Y/N (yes or no) value indicating if the
connection itself was successful. If it returns a Y, I proceed to submit
the payment. If it returns an N, an error rmessage is returned to the user
trying to make the payment and I get an email telling me there's a problem
trying to connect to google.
