Indeed. The sample code Jack linked to, if taken verbatim, is for
SHA-1. (This is also implied by the URL.) He did say he tried the
other types (the code gives named constants HASH_MD5, HASH_SHA1,
HASH_SHA256, HASH_SHA384, and HASH_SHA512; with the comment that
you're supposed to set alg.HashAlg to the one you want).

For what it's worth, Python's hash library generates the same MD5 hash
for the given input, so I'm confident that the Miracle Salad site is
right.

Maybe there is some miscommunication going on regarding either the
sample input or the procedure you're supposed to use? (By that I mean,
maybe you misunderstood what the site is trying to tell you, or maybe
the site is telling you something wrong/misleading/hard to
understand.)

Personally, I wouldn't even worry about whether you're doing the RPG
right until you have figured out how to feed the Miracle Salad site
the right input to generate the desired output.
