I love the part about describing the environment and the problem, NOT guessing about what the problem might possibly be. This is true when you take your car to the mechanic just as it is here. Adding a guess at the problem when you truly do not know can lead those who would like to help off in a direction they would never have followed and thus delay identifying the solution!

Folks:

I'd just like to remind everyone that they should perform their own research before posting a question to any midrange.com list.

Asking a basic question, before doing your own research, indicates laziness and you will probably find people ignoring your questions fairly quickly.

Please take a look at Eric Raymond's very good writeup on how to ask good questions: http://www.catb.org/esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Thanks!
