Yep, you can do this, but probably not an enterprise file sharing solution.
More for home use or server backup use perhaps.

I don't think this is new. I had a NAS connected to my home router 5 years ago and shared the storage between three home PCs and accessed it while at work via a built in web server on the NAS. Didn't hold 4TB. Was more like 500MB usable mirrored

I just became aware that "routers" are being used as storage servers:

Connect an external SATA drive to the router's USB 3.0 port. Total cost about $260 for 4TB of storage.
I just ran Windows backup. There's also an FTP service for backing up the likes of IBM i.
I've been reading about IBM's storage business declining. Could this be related?
