I suspect we'll be going through this same thing ourselves. Our old
internal domain name is dekko-1. While this fits all the standards and
RFC's there are still some applications that go nuts over having a dash in
it. We've decided to migrate to corp.dekko.com for internal use. This
has the added advantage of using the same certificate for dekko.com for
SSL and whatnot. We found that using local.dekko.com is highly frowned
upon as that 'local' is kinda reserved somehow. I forget exactly where we
ran across that.
If I get some time I may play with changing an lpar or two. I'll make
sure I have a mapped drive first.
