I used to do the CPYSPLF thing. Let's change the disk used on the spool
file from MB to GB now. After all, when you have TB it doesn't fit in the
space if you still use MB.
Tough to use one program on a CPYSPLF thing, and still support multiple
releases of the OS. Gee, this one reports it in MB and this one in GB...
Turns out the API was consistent.
Seen both Domino Java situations. Granted, I was pushing the edge of the
Domino compatibility guide. (Someone has to find the edge.) Java changes
= #1 killer of certain Domino releases on OS upgrades. Could get all of
Domino working except 1 or 2 things and that was solely because of the
Java change.
Been hit with the select * into :MyExtDs when trying to use one SQL
statement against multiple versions of the vendor software. Biggest
workaround is: DON'T USE SELECT *!
The FRT file in Infor uses a column called RID. Didn't blow the existing
code, but you sure had to modify it when you recompiled the code. If it
would have been dynamic it would have blown it.
I've seen Al Barsa go ballistic when IBM increased many of the limits.
Keep in mind that he was big into the tool market and was most affected by
this.
