Some years ago, we found out (the hard way) that there is a "brick wall" in the number of subdirectories possible in an IFS directory. And we had to rework an application to use ZIP files where it had been using subdirectories.

Would anybody happen to know what that limit is? And whether there's a similar "brick wall" limit on the number of files in an IFS directory?

Does the IFS use *nix-style "inodes"? Or something else?
