Have you tried using F1=Help on the message and reading what is suggested in the Recovery section? Or use ?ADDTRC instead of ADDTRC, and read the parameter descriptions; notably, the Program (PGM) parameter that defaults to the Default Program (*DFTPGM).

What I am doing is, I have to add one field to a large subfile
program. My add is not part of the subfile.

The program has display mode, and entry.

I want to see what statements my particular part are hitting at
entry mode because I am not writing output in the correct place.

A trace as I recall, will tell you what statements were hit?

For a debug-enabled OPM program at least, the Add Trace (ADDTRC) will enable that, by use of the Display Trace Data (DSPTRCDTA) command; the data can be cleared with Clear Trace Data (CLRTRCDTA) and the trace ended with Remove Trace (RMVTRC) [again, for the particular\default PGM() specified].
