Once you verified that any vendor supplied software is supported past V5R4
(and all the way on up),
and you pass ANZOBJCVN concerns,
and you pass other concerns mentioned in the 6.1, and the 7.1 MTU,
and you upgrade to 7.1,
you may want to consider upgrading your old box to 7.2 after that upgrade.
You may need a week to R&R before doing the second upgrade.
Then you should be able to run that on your outsourcing machine, providing
they can support newer versions. Have they let you know what kind of box
they're running on yet?
Or, the vendor can take you straight from the 7.1 restore on their new box
to 7.3.
If they won't tell you the processor then whether or not they'll do the
7.1-7.3 upgrade should help limit what processors they are running.
