I fixed it with a one-time batch scan/update of the table and a

permanent fix by doing an edit right up front

when they enter it. Fortunately, it was just one program that a

jillion others called to do the diary entry.

We had a similar issue in our JDE OneWorld environment. JDE had note
fields in which users were pasting data from Excel, Word, and Outlook, and
we occasionally encountered X'41' characters in the IBM i database field
where this data was stored.
