We found some cheap Taiwan or China 1Gb switches at customers which sometimes does have issues in auto-negotiate, especially with Intel cards.
Why ever - we dumped them :)

For HMC dedicated networking, cheap 100MBit switches are ok as long as two different physical networks are implemented
for HMC1 and HMC2 network. No need to fill up expensive VLAN ports on the 1GB boxes.
