Since 6.1, RPG supports character variables up to 16 MB.
... because RPG variables are restricted to 16 MB. LOB-Variables defined for
embedded SQL can only hold large objects with a maximum length of 16 MB
(before 6.1 - 65535 Bytes), while a LOB (column) can hold LOBs up to 2 GB.
LOBs > 16 MB have to be handled (within RPG) with either LOB Locators (LOB
columns) or LOB Reference Files (IFS Files).
