The software was originally installed by IBM. IBM still supports it, despite
the fact that they sold the product to Rocket.

IBM was actually the second owner of the product.

Luck doesn't have much to do with it. Your customer may have an issue, but
usually I've found most of the problems of that magnitude relate straight
back to the original installation and mistakes made there. In the
construction industry you typically work in there is an OEM service provider
to support their own software and offer replication services to their
customers. Fine, but they do a half a** job of installing iCluster and
expect it to work properly. That's not Rocket or iCluster, that's the
installation.

These are ongoing problems my client is having. I guess you got lucky with
your configuration.

Thanks Paul but we haven't had any issues getting help and support from
Rocket. And pretty responsive with their guidance.

Maybe you're talking of experiences from way back, we're pretty happy with
Rocket and iCluster.

I'd avoid that one like the plague. IBM used to own that product, and

For whatever reason, IBM is under some sort of contract to support the
product, and they really do a poor job of problem resolution.

One of my clients has continuing issues with replication and data
extract links going into a coma, and it takes IBM/Rocket days and even
weeks to respond. When they do, it's usually an answer like "Bounce
the subsystems on the iSeries, and bounce the server doing the
extracts."

There's also Rocket iCluster -

For real-time replication to a DR machine, you should use software

Hello sages

We use IBM's Data Propagator (a.k.a DPROP) to replicate some 100
table
from
DB2/400 to DB2 LUW (on a Windows machine) and about 10 tables the
other way.

Since DPROP has reached it's end-of-support-date
http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/printableversion.wss?
docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/2/899/ENUSLP15-0192/index.html

I need to find a good replacement replicating tool.

and if a new tool is in order, I would like to also use it for a DR
replication of IBM i Prod machine to a stand by i machine (actually
the previous
Prod
machine)

Can you furnish me with some pointers?

Thanks
Gad
