What is this "PS" job which gets launched at the same time?

The *nix utility named ps to "Show current status of processes" might be origin of that naming choice for the job. Perhaps there is a configuration option for which the initiation of the JVM starts a BCI [aka BATCHI] monitor or profiling job for that JVM; perhaps some Debug or Garbage Collection configuration setting, and perhaps via something like the JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS environment variable used to start a debug agent.?

The only thing from a web search of QZSHPS QTEMP [i.e. the *USRSPC name that was created in the job] was your post from the archives; quite likely you were already aware there was nothing found earlier this month :-)
