The time has arrived, Saturday night, 22:00.
Everything labeled.
New network switch configured and tested.
All new Ethernet cables run and pre-labeled.
We discovered one minor issue.
The new APC racks with the PDUs mounted will probably not allow us to use the cable management arms, not enough clearance.
Has anyone run into a clearance issue with the cable management arms.
If so, any available resolutions?
Paul

I found something interesting while documenting and labeling the cables.
All IBM supplied cables, (which included SPCN, 12X DDR, FC, SAS) have a unique serial number on each end of the cable already.
Using this serial number (actually just the last 3 digits) it simplified the tracing and labeling of these cables.
Only our own made Ethernet cables were lacking the serial numbers and needed additional effort.

I'm seeing inconsistencies on PCI cards.
Top port on a 5735 is port 0 while the top port on a 5913 is port 2.
I need to ensure cable port locations for features.

Subject: Suggetions on labeling all items for a rack reloaction to new rack in new data center
We're relocating our data center, 60 feet away.
Rack details below, 15 items.
Moving the entire rack is not an option.
I need to minimize the down window, no HA.
Every item needs to be un-cabled, un-racked, re-racked, and re-cabled.
I've identified some cable docs for the various features.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to label each cable in the rack.
Some examples I came up with below
For a 5877 EXP24S SFF Gen2-bay Drawer -- serial number, slot, slot position. Example RCH7733 - C1 - 3 For a 5887 12X I/O Drawer PCIe, No Disk - serial number, G1BY017 - P1-C2-T3
Any thoughts from the group?
