We changed the system value QLOGOUTPUT to *PND. Little to anything ever
hits QEZJOBLOG. Basically you have to tell it DSPJOBLOG JOB(...)
OUTPUT(*PRINT) if you want a spooled joblog. But, even if the job is
ended you can still do DSPJOBLOG of the job.

We also delete all spool files over 90 days old. No exceptions. People
adapt.

Like you, we only IPL once a quarter.

Normally the #jobs in the system seemed related to ended jobs with job
logs
or other spools still existing. There are perhaps 15,000 spooled files
from
various jobs.

What else could contribute to this number.
System is restarted once a qtr (full system backup).
