OK, so there is more to the indicators than nulls (though for my
money, nulls are a biggie, since null is a fairly important and
definitely common concept in SQL).

But in any case, seeing all this rigamarole just underscores (to me)
how tricky and cumbersome it is to interface SQL with RPG. This
discussion is definitely not enticing me to improve my SQLRPGLE
skills. If I had to give up Python on the i (which interfaces
fantastically well with SQL), I am pretty sure I would start stuffing
as much SQL as I could into UDFs/SPs, so that there would be the
minimum possible SQL left to be embedded into RPG.
