For a lot of us getting projects like OS upgrades, hardware upgrades, etc. approved are out of our control.

My shop is definitely in the "if it ain't broke" camp, but we'll never be without IBM support.
For me personally, you're preaching to the choir, but I'm just the admin, I can't authorize an OS upgrade.

I don't think it's so much the hardware vs software vendors dragging their feet. And, honestly, the fact that Bubba's excavating and used tires wants to continue running their old hardware has little to no sway. A bulk of those people are in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it crowd" so why would support matter to them? It's not like they're going to put on a PTF anyway. However if you're a member of the Large Users Group and have
1,000 machines in each branch location then you may be able to convince IBM to extend support.
Why won't you upgrade?
