What I've always done is run an RPG program using the desired sql statement
(loaded into a variable) in debug mode. Then refer to the job log and you
will see a lot of good information. One of the benefits of doing this is
that you can restructure the SQL statement (order of fields selected, order
by clause etc) on the fly and compare the results.

Note that you will need to change the job to set the JOBMSGQFL parm on the
job to *WRAP otherwise you will fill the job log and the program will abend.
