Best tool to map journal entries to original columns is, IMHO, EXPJRNE. 
It provides an interface very similar to the DSJRNE command. For example:

EXPJRNE/EXPJRNE OBJ(LENNONS1/ORDLNP) FROMDATE(120909) FROMTIME(000000) 
TO DATE(120909) TOTIME(235959) OUTFILE(QTEMP/XORDLNP) CRTFILE(*YES)

EXPJRNE is a freeware product available here:

It will take a couple of hours to install, because you will first need 
to install a couple of prereq tools, but it's not complicated.

(I used it extensively in my last two jobs for "who did what when" 
analysis. In the last job we turned up numerous bugs in the inventory 
maintenance apps, and eventually EXPJRNE ended up as part of a permanent 
monitoring system.)
