Rob,
Then you're keeping more data in your BRMS database than most which is great
if you choose to do it. The most common complaint I get is BRMS is getting
to large, so we set the maintenance to purge the data.

You'll have to use the native commands to do the restore.
I suggest a DSPTAP first (that may take some significant minutes....)
Then RSTLIB and specify the sequence number you derived from the display
tape. Because media and storage extensions are on the box you'll have to
specify the tape name instead of *MOUNTED.
BRMS will not restore anything that is not in the database, so if the tape
was expired, and BRMS maintenance has run between now and then the
database
would have been purged of that tape information.

Subject: Restore from Expired tape
I have a request to restore a lib from a year ago. Unfortunately, the
only
tape that has the data is on an (unused) expired tape. The backup was
done
using BRMS.
I remember trying this a while ago & the system showed an empty tape.
Has anyone had success doing this? I was thinking I could change the
system
date before trying.
