Here what I suggest you try.

I assume that the bar code reader is connected to a PC and emulates a keyboard. What I mean by that is that if you san "A" it is like typing "A".

If this assumption I right, this is what you could try:

In the 5250 keyboard personalisation file, assign the field exit function with a readable character that won't be used by your application (Ex: "&"). So if you scan & a field exit will get send to your application.

This should solve your problem.

That sounds like it might be a case of poor application design. Field Exit is nothing more than a combination of an erase-to-end-of-field with a tab, so I can't imagine how it would help you.
