check the history log at the time the SBS got started.

check for a joblog as well, jobname should be the same as the jobd.

Well, the history log at least showed that the autostart job did
get submitted -- but it also showed that it ended .005 seconds later.
There was no joblog produced.

As it turns out, though, we got this fixed. We had to reinstall
the QSHELL licensed program. Thanks.
