Ok, you asked for it: you are a fool ;-)

The inactivity timeout will not affect active connections. Now to check:
is the connection active? Best method to verify while
the transfer is running -> NETSTAT, option 3 on IBM i to verify
if there really is a transfer or something is blocking. FTP is a weird
protocol as we read thousand times here.
