Jerry:

Anyone who knows when the announcement will be (I don't) would not talk
about it due to Non-Disclosure agreements.

Based on history, I would think many of the Power8 IOAs would work but I
would count on some new controllers etc. Also the DASD configuration could
be vastly different, (think of the differences between the P7 and P8), but
anyone that would tell you they do know either 1) does not and is guessing,
or 2) breaking an agreement with IBM which is bad form. Don't count on #2.

Based on past experience, pricing and eConfig (the configurator that
partners use to build the orderable configuration) get loaded about 2 weeks
after announcement and about a week before GA. Sometimes faster, once in a
while slower.

Bottom line, you'll have to get it all updated in the face of an
announcement. Also I'm guessing you'll be in a scale out box (41A), IBM
might choose not to change the scale out line and concentrate on the Linux
and enterprise market first. They might also announce the whole line. Then
again there are rumors that a rename of the platform and re-organization of
the whole hardware structure are in the works. We just don't know yet.

We just have to wait and see.

Subject: Power 9

Hi All,

Several months ago I put together a proposal to replace our i5 box
(9406-525) with a new shinny Power 8.

This proposal is going to be pushed again.

Does anyone know when the Power 9 box/config are going to be announced?
The config/pricing of a Power 9 will be different than the Power 8.

Thanks!!!!
