My understanding is that a *USERASCII spool is streamed straight to the
printer as is. You say ftp-ing pdf works, but that is one doc with multiple
pages I guess? And are you sure that the spool content is really pdf, i.e.
that it starts with "%PDF-" ?

How do the *USERASCII PDF's that are sitting as ASCII spool files get sent
to the printer when we release them? Are they going through another
conversion to PCL?
