Well, those two sentences do kind of go hand-in-hand. Considering how
long it's been since they've manufactured a machine which supports a
"physical terminal".
Hey, does HMC count as a valid test? It's definitely outside of the
Windows realm.

This might not be very helpful, but I think it's always good advice. Start
with simple removal of variables: Uninstall the hotspot, does 5250 login
work then? If so it must be something in the hotspot config breaking the
connection. Try a physical terminal if you have one available. What model
machine do you have?
