HI,

We've several customers that lost documents... when you save files from PC to Netserver you don't get any error at all (so the user thinks everything is fine), but the file is not saved and lost ! The problem is that it is hard to reproduce but it happended frequently with us (one of the cases that was somewhat consistent is downloading a PDF in Edge and using Save As to a Netserver share).

If I can choose between a potential security issue on SMB1 and the loss of data ... I know what to choose !!!

BTW... if they're serious about security they would have ported ciphers back to V7R1.

Kind regards,
Paul

The Memo to Users mentions this change, but only refers to mandatory changes to printer shares. Do you have references to other issues?

Hi,

If you rely on NetServer... don't forget to disable SMB2 which is now enabled by default (and causes lots of problems which are still not fixex by IBM) in V7R3.

While IBM is usually so conservative I still don't understand why they made this a default as there's really no reason for it (and they know that it breaks things).

Kind regards,
Paul
