FURTHERMORE I moved partitions from one ASP to another with this trick:

Create the target NWSSTG in the requested ASP. Such as

CrtNwsStg ANNWSDISK 1 Format(*Open) Asp(3)

Size does not matter just the ASP(3) Parm and I cannot get myself to not say Format(*OPEN). :-)

Then restore the NWSSTG object ANNWSDISK with '/qfpnwsstg/ANNNWSDISK' and your storage is now in ASP(3).

This is DOCUMENTED Thus:

Why would they document this if it DOES NOT WORK.

Sorry they hit my irritate me button.....

Normally I would save all LPARs. This allows me to do granular restores.
However this time I would like to save time and just save the host for data center move. I figure I would have to
- ensure that all guests were powered off
- run the CHGATR to ensure that QFPNNWSSTG allowed the save
- ensure the BRMS control group saved it.

Just to double check i opened a SR with IBM.
I was told no. I had to reassure them I cared not a whit, just this once, that I wouldn't be able to do a granular restore. Still they said no.
Just to be sure they weren't stuck in the granular frame of mind I asked then for documentation on this. They say they will look for this.

What say ye?
