Hard to offer advice without knowing about the application and if it's using ODBC or some other file trannsfer mechanism.

subject: Odd error downloading a file to a spreadsheet

Hi folks,

We have recently encountered errors from an existing application that downloads error records to a spreadsheet.

Just spent an hour on the phone with the PC support person and flipped every option and parameter in Excel we could find.

The error is this:

The document is corrupt and cannot be opened. To try and repair it, use the Open and Repair command in the Open dialog box

and select Extract Data when prompted.

A little background. I suspected bad data in a record so I did some CPYF's around it but no help.

Then, after other tests, discovered it was a size type problem, as anything over 12,xxx records would fail.

We recently upgraded to Excel 2013, but back versions do not seem to work, either.

Any recent experiences appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dan Rasch
