Not really​...

Pretty easy to get a list of columns from SYSCOLUMNS...and if you have 7.2+
and the most recent TR's you can even use the LISTAGG() function to turn it
into a column delimited string.

Archiving is one place it _might_ make sense to use SELECT *.

I say might because it depends, it might be good to automatically pick up a
new column. But only if the destination can automatically handle it.
